Last week, Ljubljana set the stage for a significant milestone in child safeguarding in sport. The full project consortium came together to discuss key developments, including the forthcoming self-assessment tool designed to empower sport organisations in strengthening child protection measures.

A New Era of Accountability

  • Self-Assessment Tool & Guidelines (D2.3) – This soon-to-be-launched tool will enable sport organisations to evaluate and improve their safeguarding policies, ensuring a safer environment for young athletes.

  • Following the completion of the self-assessment tool and its pilot testing with 500 individuals from sport organisations, the consortium will advance to the next phase of deliverables.

Training the Future of Sport

  • Training Programme Development (WP3) – Research and pilot tests are shaping a robust training programme tailored for coaches and organisational leaders.

  • Training Handbook & National Programmes (D3.5 & D3.6) – A comprehensive resource is being developed to embed safeguarding principles into everyday sporting practices.

National Round Tables: Localising Safeguarding Efforts

Partners also shared their experiences from conducting National Round Tables, providing valuable insights into how safeguarding measures can be tailored to different national contexts. You can explore these experiences in detail on the News Page.

With the self-assessment tool on the horizon, the future of child safeguarding in sport is set to become even stronger. Stay tuned for its official release—because when it comes to safety, every move counts!
